Women, Peace and Security in Africa: Celebrating 20 Years of UNSC Resolution 1325

Hekima Institute of Peace Studies and International Relations (HIPSIR), Hekima University College, Nairobi, Kenya, invites paper presentations for the above conference that will take place from 21 to 23 October 2020.

The deadline for submission of the 200-word abstracts is 1 February 2020. The authors of selected abstracts will be invited to produce a book chapter which will be published and launched at the conference.

All book chapters ought to be submitted by 1 April 2020. More than 1000 women will also be reached on an online survey on women, peace, and security in Africa, the results of which will be presented at the conference.

Request for Applications – EGAP Visiting Fellowship

Evidence in Governance and Politics (EGAP) invites scholars based in academic or research institutions in sub-Saharan Africa and working on issues related to governance, accountability, or political participation to apply for a 4-month fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley, to be completed during the Fall 2020 (August – December) or Spring 2021 (January – May) semester.

To be eligible, researchers must be residents in a sub-Saharan African country and hold a faculty or research staff position at a research institution or university in sub-Saharan Africa. Applicants must, at a minimum, be working towards a PhD, with preference for those who have fully completed their PhD. Researchers from quantitative social science disciplines are encouraged to apply.

The application deadline is: 9:00 am U.S. Pacific Time on Monday, 10 February 2020.
