In the News: Hope Challenges Fear

We join Gambia in (hopefully) celebrating the departure of its former President Yahya Jammeh, who was known for his violations of human rights and persistent corruption. Many of us also joined on Saturday with citizens throughout the U.S. and the world, including at least three cities in Africa (Accra, Nairobi, and Cape Town), who registered their fears regarding the rights that the incoming U.S. president has threatened to violate, the rights that still need to be applied equally, and their opposition to the new forms of corruption that the Trump administration is already bringing to U.S. democracy.

Again, we call on NGOs to be vigilant in favor of rights, press freedoms, anti-corruption efforts, and real facts (not “alternative” ones) in the U.S. as well as in Africa.
